It’s intersting how much meaning and identity I put into work.

As an example: I know nothing about forestry or land management, and yet, because I think “man, do I love being in the woods”, I just found myself looking at the US Forest Service’s jobs page. Why, brain? Why would you think you need to work for the Forest Service to claim that identity? You can be someone who loves the outdoors and just be there.

No answers on the motivation behind that thinking. Just an observation. And a reminder to myself that work should be a tool for enabling me to be who I am, rather than something that defines who I am.

I also think I might need to spend some time reflecting on who I actually am.
